The Patrol Division consists of four teams of fully certified law enforcement officers who are responsible for patrolling all unincorporated areas of Harrison County. All patrol officers are uniformed and drive fully marked vehicles.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office has advanced cloud-based mobile solutions. This technology will help our officers better respond to emergencies in the field by accessing and sharing mission critical information where and when they need it, from any Internet connected device.

By deploying data-sharing platform Harrison County is now part of a much larger network of agencies that support public safety interoperability by sharing their data across jurisdictions, state lines and even software vendors. Law enforcement officers from participating agencies use this software on their laptops in their patrol vehicle. This inter-agency approach to data sharing allows officers to obtain real-time, actionable information about criminals and criminal behavior inside and outside of their jurisdictions.

All patrol officers are required to be certified as Law Enforcement Officers by the Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training before being allowed to perform unsupervised patrol duties. Under most circumstances, patrol officers come from the ranks of non-sworn positions within the Sheriff’s Department lateral transfers from other law enforcement agencies, or become eligible though the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Civil Service Commission.
